The Innaguaral Alabama AV Teacher Bootcamp

We were excited to facilitate the inaugural Alabama AV Teacher Bootcamp at Albertville Innovation Academy in Albertville, Alabama.
A group of teachers from around the state of Alabama gathered for two and a half days of professional development designed solely for AV teachers. The group shared their experiences in the classroom, lessons learned in the field, and how to handle a variety of situations.
Brad Beasley from Russell County High School kicked off the event with his methods on building a news program that benefits the community. Helena High School’s Mark Hendren shared his favorite Adobe Premiere Pro workflows and teaching tips. Candace Finley from Oxford High School shared her unique grading methods and student portfolios. Billy Dunn from the Albertville Innovation Academy closed the day with a tour of the AIA facility and his studio. During the studio tour, Dunn showcased his student works.
Thursday morning had a bright start with Hendren giving the group an in-depth look at several lighting techniques. Tim Loreman detailed how he runs the broadcast program at Central High School in Phenix City. Then the group worked together to create a product that mimicked the SkillsUSA Television Video Production contest.
Friday morning started with Isaiah Harper from Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy showing how he selects and trains his award-winning broadcast team. The day closed with a conversation about scoring videos for contests and the attendees scored their project from the day before.
Thank you to Ikan and Canon for their support of the Bootcamp and providing giveways to the attendees.

We are excited to share that Bootcamp returns next year to the Albertville Innovation Academy May 27-29, 2026. Registration will be announced soon.
