Recording a MP4 video with Your TriCaster
Instead of creating a large MOV file from your TriCaster production, you can generate a MP4 file which is much lighter in terms of size and extremely easier to add to a non-linear editor like Davinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Steps to create a MP4 file with a TriCaster
- Make sure your mix is set to what you want.
- Depending on the TriCaster model you have, you may have up to 4 mix outputs. Typically Mix 1 is the program feed and that will be what you use to capture your file.
- Open the Stream/Encode or Stream settings
- Create a new preset – “File Capture”
- Connection Name = the name that shows up inside the Stream/Encode settings
- File Name = The name of the file that will show up in your drive as the title of the final product
- Don’t forget that you can use DataLinks to help organize your files.
- % will bring up the list of Datalink options – Typically, %Date% is all that is needed.
- Destination = Where the file will be found on the TriCaster. NEVER SET THIS TO ANYWHERE ON THE C: DRIVE
- Hit Stream/Encode or Stream to begin your production.
- When you are done, you will find the file in the location you selected as the destination.
